Abstract
Micromachining is a cost-effective method for fabricating intricate microchannels. However, it often results in the formation of micro burrs and surface roughness, which can degrade product quality, performance, and durability. This study aims to investigate the effect of machining parameters on micro-burr formation and surface roughness on Al6061-T6 microchannel punchers. The machining process of aluminium microchannels puncher was conducted using a CNC milling machine with a two-flute TiAlN-coated solid carbide end mill. The burr formation and surface roughness were studied using different spindle speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut. The depth of cut and spindle speed has the greatest influence on micro-burr formation, while the effect of feed is minimal. As for surface roughness, the feed rate is the most significant parameter, while the impact of depth of cut and spindle speeds is negligible. Selecting appropriate parameters ensures precise, high-quality products with minimal micro-burrs and improved surface roughness.
